Perhaps you've attended other types of Childbirth Classes offered by your hospital or care provider, but you're looking for something a bit...different.
Maybe you understand what's going to happen to your body during labor and childbirth, but you've heard that this MIND OVER MATTER thing is really where it's at.
Developed by Nancy Bardacke, CNM, who authored the book Mindful Birthing, and based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program that has helped thousands of patients in hospitals since 1979 overcome health challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic pain, etc., this course will equip you with the tools, practices, and resources to feel truly prepared for the journey of childbirth and parenting.
When you sign up for a Minfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Class, we meet once a week for 8 weeks and cover the basic principles of preparing the mind and body for childbirth with mindfulness practices you can apply to your daily life.
We cover topics such as inner preparation for childbirth; awareness, appreciation and acceptance; embodiment; being in the present moment; understanding pain and fear; responding vs. reacting; managing your thoughts so they serve you rather than enslave you...just to name a few! We also cover the basic childbirth course topics, such as how labor progresses, what’s happening in your body during childbirth, beneficial pushing positions, supportive comfort techniques and laboring positions, and typical hospital procedures.
