Movement and breath are two of the most effective pain-coping techniques for labor, and yoga practice combines both.
Come to this workshop to learn the best yoga postures and breathing techniques to use during early labor, active labor, and transition, as well as a bonus breathing technique that can make the pushing stage of labor more effective and efficient, while keeping your tissue intact. These yoga postures and breathing techniques come from the pioneering work of Dorothy Guerra, in her book The Yoga Birth Method.
We’ll discuss the postures and their benefits for each phase of labor, and then we’ll practice their sequence. You’ll receive resources so you can continue to practice the sequences at home and easily and instinctively put them to use once your labor begins. We’ll also cover effective comfort techniques that your partner or spouse can do to support you as you move through the postures.
Practicing these postures and breathwork during labor maximizes oxygen to baby and to your uterus, can alleviate discomforts and help baby find ideal positioning for birth, and supports you in maintaining a relaxed, calm rhythm to work with your body through labor.
